Dunmore East is a small fishing village on the south-east coast of Ireland, 16kms from the city of Waterford. It sits on the western side of the Waterford Harbour Estuary, 4.8kms from Hook Head in Wexford.

This mini-movie was filmed in 1958 by British Pathe News and features an all star local

cast. It was filmed in one of the old kippering houses on the road down to the harbour.

The shamrock was dried in a shed beside the kippering house. The start of the clip shows

Paddy O'Connor and Jim Morrissey RIP (who was married to Paddy O'Connor's mother's

sister, Nellie) feeding it into the driers. Jim Morrissey is also the last person in the line

carrying out the boxes. Other people featured are Dinah O'Regan RIP, Margaret Walsh,

Mary Mahony and Katie Martin
