The South African Connection

Yes, the good old South African connection! Would you believe that my great grandfather was a South African pioneer? Absolutely true. He was a Jewish immigrant from Lithuania who became a South African industrialist and a senator in Paul Kruger's government. His house, ten miles east of Pretoria, is now a museum to the pioneering days in South Africa. His name was Sammy Marks. I'm going on mission to Thailand tomorrow (15/Jan/1988) but when I get back in two weeks I'll put up some more pictures and information. Meanwhile, here are some pictures of the interior of the house as it is today (it was built sometime around 1880).
